SAME, April 13 -- THE Tanzanian Vice President and Prime Minister, John Samuel Malecela, has insisted on maintaining peace and stability, saying they are pillar heads of tourism globally.

He urged Tanzanian citizens to safeguard peace in order to promote tourism in the country and continue benefiting from the sector.

Malecela made these remarks during the launch of the Same Tourism Festival, held at the bus stand grounds in Same District, Kilimanjaro Region.

He emphasized that tourism is a key sector that contributes significantly to earning foreign exchange.

He noted that in some countries around the world, governments are largely funded through tourism, and therefore, the issue should be taken very seriously.
