DODOMA, May 13 -- TANZANIAS Ministry of Transport, through the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, has continued to oversee and regulate land transport services across the road, railway, and cable transport sectors while expanding the use of digital systems and technology in service delivery.

Presenting the Ministry of Transports budget speech for the 2026/2027 financial year in Parliament, Transport Minister Makame Mbarawa said that between July 2025 and March 2026, LATRA issued a total of 388,715 transport licences.

He said the figure represents a 55 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous financial year, reflecting growth in transport activities and improvements in service delivery within the sector.
