DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 4 -- WOMEN MPs from the Forum of Parliaments of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (FP-ICGLR) have stressed that womens participation in economic activities is a key pillar for promoting development, prosperity and stability across the Great Lakes Region.

They emphasised the need to strengthen empowerment initiatives to ensure that women from different backgrounds benefit from development opportunities.

The MPs made the remarks during a discussion on Women and Economic Resilience - Regional Approaches to Womens Socio-Economic Empowerment, held in Dar es Salaam today, November 4, 2026. The discussion was part of the FP-ICGLR Women MPs Conference currently taking place in the city.
