DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 1 -- CONSTRUCTION of three modern training grounds in Arusha for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is expected to open a new chapter of economic growth through sports tourism, business opportunities and job creation.

The facilities, currently under construction at Mgambo, Engutoto and Magereza at a cost exceeding 70 bn/- will serve as training venues for teams participating in AFCON 2027. Beyond the tournament, the grounds are expected to remain valuable sporting assets for the region and the country.

Speaking during an inspection tour of the projects, Arusha Regional Commissioner (RC), Amos Makalla, said the investment demonstrates the governments commitment to use sports as a driver of economic development.
