DODOMA, April 23 -- PRIME Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has said the horticulture industry is not merely a sub-sector of agriculture, but a strategic pillar of international trade that connects Tanzania to global markets.
Recognising its importance, he noted that the government has continued to provide input subsidies, significantly boosting productivity and output. As a result, horticultural production increased from 7.5 million tonnes in 2023/2024 to 9.7 million tonnes in 2024/2025, marking a rise of 30.2 per cent.
