DAR ES SALAAM, July 22 -- THE government is stepping up efforts to make arbitration the preferred avenue for resolving commercial disputes as it seeks to attract more investment reduce legal costs and ensure major infrastructure projects are not stalled by lengthy court battles.

The government says faster, less costly dispute resolution is becoming increasingly important as the country records rising investment in mining, energy, transport and other strategic sectors that rely on complex commercial contracts.
