Funds to bypass treasury in new projects push
SINGIDA, June 14 -- THE government is moving to change how development funds are managed, with money allocated for water, road and energy projects set to flow directly to sector funds instead of passing through the government general fund, Prime Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba has said.
The proposed reforms, which have been submitted to Parliament, are intended to address bottlenecks in the flow of development financing, enabling priority infrastructure programmes in water, transport and energy to progress with greater efficiency and predictability.
Mwigulu announced the proposed changes on Saturday during a public address to residents of Ndago Division at Ndago Primary School grounds in Iramba District, Singida Region.
