EACOP achieves 99.3 percent compensation of payments in Geita region
GEITA, Sept. 6 -- THE East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has successfully paid compensation to 1,482 affected people, equivalent to 99.3pc of the 1,492 people affected by the project in Geita Region.
The residents are among 10,223 people affected by the EACOP project in Tanzania who deserve a total of 35/- billion compensation following the assessments of their properties and affected areas.
The Acting EACOP Project Officer from the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Mr Jumanne Saidi, made the statement recently during a special workshop for journalists held in Geita.
