Dr Tulia drums for the laws to protect health rights for women, children, youth
ARUSHA, Oct. 8 -- THE President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Dr Tulia Ackson, has issued four directives to member parliaments, calling for stronger action to improve the health and well-being of women, children and young people.
Dr Ackson issued the directives on Thursday, October 8, 2026, during a discussion on maternal and child health organised by the Tanzanian government for IPU parliamentarians in Arusha.
The directives include strengthening laws that protect the health and rights of women, children and young people, while ensuring that policy commitments are backed by adequate budgetary allocations.
