DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 7 -- President Samia Suluhu Hassan has launched the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Violence and Violations of the Law During and After the October 2025 General Election, tasking it with investigating the causes of the incidents, identifying those responsible and uncovering individuals who facilitated the unrest.

Speaking during the launch of the commission at the State House in Dar es Salaam yesterday, President Samia said the body had been established under the powers vested in her by the Commissions of Inquiry Act, Chapter 32, to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the violence and alleged breaches of the law.
