ZANZIBAR, April 15 -- ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has called for a broader approach to infrastructure development, urging a shift beyond road construction to embrace technological transformation and clean energy solutions.

In a special interview with the Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC), Dr Mwinyi said infrastructure development should go hand in hand with modern technology, including the gradual adoption of electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change.

He said the transition should begin with private vehicles, followed by public transport and eventually government fleets, as part of efforts to build a more sustainable transport system.
