DAR ES SALAAM, July 21 -- THE success of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) is strengthening Tanzanias ambition to become East Africas leading trade and investment hub. Rising exports, stronger business activity and investor confidence are reinforcing that momentum.

The week-long exhibition, Tanzanias flagship annual trade event, generated on-the-spot sales worth 3.9bn/-, while 61.3 per cent of exhibitors secured export orders or international business opportunities, according to the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (Tantrade).

More than half of the products displayed were manufactured locally, reflecting the countrys growing industrial base and its push to increase value addition.
