Dark Fire-Cured tobacco price jumps 28.6pc
TABORA, Sept. 17 -- THE price of Dark FireCured tobacco (DFC) has increased by 28.6 per cent for the 2026/27 marketing season, rising from an average of 1.40 US dollars per kilogramme last season to 1.80 US dollars per kilogramme.
The Tanzania Tobacco Board (TTB) said the increase is good news for tobacco farmers, particularly those in Ruvuma Region and is expected to boost farmers incomes while encouraging higher production.
TTB Director General, Mr Stanley Mnozya urged farmers to take advantage of the improved prices by increasing production and maintaining high-quality tobacco to maximise their earnings.
