ZANZIBAR, May 11 -- ZANZIBAR President and CCM National Vice-Chairman (Zanzibar), Dr Hussein Mwinyi, has called on party leaders to strengthen unity and solidarity within the ruling party, warning against divisive factional politics driven by personal interests.

Dr Mwinyi warned that some leaders, including Members of Parliament, representatives and councillors, were engaging in divisive factional politics to protect personal interests, a trend he said threatened CCMs unity and stability.

He made the remarks yesterday during the continuation of his party-strengthening tour held at the Dr Mohamed Shein Hall of the State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) in Tunguu, South Unguja Region.
