MTWARA, Oct. 28 -- MORE than 100,000 tonnes of raw cashew nuts have been sold in the country so far during the 2026/2027 marketing season, generating more than 300bn/- in revenue.

Speaking in the Mtwara Region recently, Tanzania Cashew Board (CBT) Director General Francis Alfred said the volume sold was recorded through 10 auctions held during the first two weeks of the season, from October 12 to October 25, 2026.

“This year, many primary cooperative societies have really made an effort. Some buyers are making payments within one or two days, and the primary cooperative societies have been paying farmers on time.
