ZANZIBAR, May 12 -- ZANZIBAR Minister for Blue Economy and Fisheries, Mr Masoud Ali Mohamed has outlined ambitious short and longterm plans aimed at enabling Zanzibar fishermen to meet the islands domestic fish demand.
Responding to questions from backbenchers led by Abdulwahab Said Abubakar (Chake Chake, CCM), the minister said the government is already supporting fishermen through training, education, and the provision of modern equipment such as boats, nets, engines, and fish-finding technology to boost sustainable fish production.
“For the long term, the government plans to begin constructing fish processing factories and modern fish landing sites during the 2025/2026 financial year,” he said.
