NAIROBI, April 11 -- UNLOCKING sustainable financing for affordable housing has dominated talks between Tanzanias Minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Dr Leonard Akwilapo, and Shelter Afrique Chief Executive Officer, Thierno-Habib Hann, as the country intensifies efforts to close its housing gap.
The high-level meeting, held on the sidelines of the Second African Urban Forum from April 8 to 10, 2026, focused on strengthening cooperation to attract more investment into low-cost housing projects.
Dr Akwilapo emphasised the need for closer collaboration between government and financial institutions, saying innovative and sustainable funding models are crucial in enabling more Tanzanians to access affordable homes....
