Sri Lanka, July 9 -- The Government has officially designated the Old Bogambara premises as a prison through a Gazette notification issued by Justice and National Integration Minister Harshana Nanayakkara.

The notification, issued under Section 2 of the Prisons Ordinance (Chapter 54), authorises the establishment of a prison at the Old Bogambara premises, bringing the site under the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance.

The Gazette was issued under the powers vested in the Minister by Section 2 of the Prisons Ordinance.
