Sri Lanka, June 11 -- Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena yesterday (10) ordered the arrest and production of Sarath Weerawansa, brother of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, in connection with the alleged misuse of 40 Government vehicles provided to the National Freedom Front by the Presidential Secretariat, causing a loss of Rs. 9 million to the Government.

The Magistrate, who also issued an order banning Sarath Weerawansa from travelling abroad, ordered the Court Registrar to inform the Immigration and Emigration Controller of the same.

The Magistrate made this order when the Criminal Investigation Department informed Court that he would be named as a suspect in connection with the incident.
