Wild elephant drowns after falling into ZD canal
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- A wild elephant that fell into the ZD Canal in the Welikanda area yesterday (16) morning died after becoming trapped in a sluice gate in the Maithreegama area, Wildlife officials said.
The elephant, believed to be around 12 years old and approximately seven feet four inches in height, had reportedly fallen into the canal at around 6 am.
