WHO fetes Sri Lanka's success
Sri Lanka, May 20 -- The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday recognized Sri Lanka for eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV and syphilis to a level no longer considered a public health problem.
The recognition was granted in line with WHO-established standards established by the WHO and the recommendation of the Global Validation Advisory Committee.WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus presented the certificate to Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa during the 79th World Health Assembly currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland yesterday.
