Sri Lanka, May 21 -- The Ministry of Health says Sri Lanka has launched a five-step action plan in line with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations following the recent Ebola outbreak reported in parts of Africa.

Issuing a special statement today (20), Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena stated that the WHO had declared the Ebola outbreak a Public Health Emergency after cases were reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Health has decided to implement several precautionary measures within Sri Lanka to strengthen preparedness and response mechanisms.
