SriLanka, Sept. 29 -- Buddhist monks led by President of the Maha Bodhi Society of Sri Lanka Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thera, has launched a diplomatic appeal to the King of Saudi Arabia, seeking royal clemency for a 24-year-old Sri Lankan worker currently facing execution on death row.

In a letter addressed to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, which was delivered to the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Colombo yesterday, Ven. Banagala Upatissa Thera, has requested that the Saudi King exercise his royal prerogative of mercy to spare the life of Sivarasa Anojan, also known as Sivaraja Anojan.

Anojan, a young migrant worker hailing from Kalmunai in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province, had travelled to the Kingdom seeking employment to support his family. ...
