Sri Lanka, March 9 -- The United States has reiterated its respect for and recognition of Sri Lanka's sovereignty regarding the handling of Iranian Naval personnel rescued off Galle waters.South Asians & Diaspora

A spokesperson for the US State Department stated that the disposition of the rescued Iranian crew and personnel from the IRIS Bushehr remains entirely at the discretion of the Sri Lankan Government.

This development follows an incident off Sri Lanka's Southern coast, where the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena was sunk by a US submarine amid escalating Middle East tensions.
