SriLanka, Sept. 4 -- The death toll from the devastating flash floods in Nepal has risen to 1,287, while an estimated 5,083 people remain missing, according to the country's disaster management authorities.

The latest figures came after two people were rescued alive from a tunnel at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Project, more than a week after the floods struck the Nepal-Tibet border. Sanjaya Shah and Kabir Maharjan were rescued from the tunnel with injuries to their hands and legs and were airlifted to a hospital in Kathmandu.
