Sri Lanka, Sept. 17 -- Two female Civil Security Department (CSD) officers died after being struck by a train near the South Kalutara railway station yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as 58-year-old Vithanagamage Renuka Damayanthi from Mathugama and 53-year-old Dewayalage Guruge Shriyani from Agalawatta, both attached to the Serupita Civil Security Department camp.
The two women, along with Shriyani's 16-year-old daughter, Situmini Jayanethi, were travelling to Anuradhapura to perform religious observances. After arriving in Kalutara by bus early in the morning, they walked along the railway tracks toward the station platform.
