Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- Two children aged 7 and 13 drowned in the Kapitiya lagoon on August 11, Police said.

The Kalpitiya Police commenced an investigation based on information received regarding a vallam (small boat) capsizing in a lagoon in the Kurakkanhena area in Kalpitiya. A married couple, along with their male child and a female child had been in the boat at the time of the accident.

Upon being admitted to the Kalpitiya Hospital, the male child and the female child were pronounced dead. The deceased male child was 7 years old, and the female child was 13 years old, both residents of the Tabbowa area.
