Sri Lanka, May 1 -- Following summons issued by the Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) to examine the alleged misdirection of US$ 2.5 million, Treasury Secretary Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma appeared before the Committee on Public Finance (CoPF) with several senior officials of the Finance Ministry and Central Bank in Parliament yesterday.

The special CoPF meeting began at around 2 pm yesterday under the Chairmanship of Parliamentarian Dr. Harsha de Silva. Due to the Governor of the Central Bank being abroad, the Central Bank officials were present at the meeting. Meanwhile, Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, is scheduled to make a special statement in Parliament next week regarding the missing USD 2.5 million.
