Sri Lanka, April 16 -- Thundershowers are expected in several areas after 1.00 pm today (16), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Rainfall is likely during the afternoon or evening, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Uva and North-Western provinces. A few showers may also occur in coastal areas of the Western and Southern provinces and in the Puttalam district during the morning.

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm is expected at some areas in the Sabaragamuwa province and in the districts of Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya.

Mainly fair weather will prevail in other areas.
