Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the country from today (01), according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m., with fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm possible in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, Eastern and North Central provinces and Mannar District.

Misty conditions are also expected in some areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early morning hours.

The public is advised to take adequate precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
