Sri Lanka, July 29 -- The Walana Central Anti-Corruption Strike Force stated that 25 suspects, including three prominent gem businessmen, who were illegally mining gems on a large scale using machinery, in the Kalu Ganga (Kalu River) in the Wagawatta area, Horana, were arrested yesterday (28).

Along with the suspects, a stock of equipment valued at over Rs 70 million was taken into police custody.

Police stated that among the seized equipment were 14 boats and 6 motors.
