Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- The Department of Wildlife has taken steps to establish three elephant-repelling Units covering three areas in the Kandy District, where the human-elephant conflict is prevalent.
Mahinda Wijesinghe, the Hasalaka Site Security Officer of the Department, said that steps have been taken to establish one of these Units in the Hasalaka area of Minipe and the other in the Ududumbara Thennalanda.
He also revealed at the Kandy District Agriculture Committee meeting that the location of the third Unit will be determined according to need.
