The deceased, identified as a resident of Moonamalewatta, Kiriwaththuduwa, was arrested on October 25 at Pitipana Junction within the Homagama Police Division. Officers attached to the Homagama Police Station took him into custody over alleged possession of the narcotic crystal methamphetamine (Ice).
According to police reports, the suspect fell ill shortly after being brought to the police station following his arrest. He was transported to the Homagama Base Hospital for urgent treatment, where he was subsequently declared dead.
