Term of Presidential Commission probing fraud in CMC extended
Sri Lanka, June 29 -- The term of the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate corruption and fraud at the Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) from 2010 to 2025 has been extended by another six months.
Accordingly, the commission's term, which was scheduled to end today (29), has been extended until December 31, 2026.
This Presidential Commission of Inquiry was established by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to look into a wide range of alleged irregularities committed between 2010 and 2025, including, corruption, fraud, and criminal breach of trust, abuse or misuse of power, state resources, and privileges, illegal recruitments, appointments, and violations of procurement guidelines,
