Sri Lanka, March 27 -- About 10 acres of the reserve below the Castlereagh Reservoir dam have been destroyed by a fire that broke out due to the severe bad weather prevailing in the reservoir's catchment areas these days.
The fire that started around 5 p.m. on March 25, spread rapidly throughout the reserve due to the prevailing dry weather, and the security officers of the reservoir, students studying at the Castlereagh Training Centre, and local residents joined together to control the spread of the fire.
Senior Superintendent of Police Pradeep Weerasekara in charge of the Hatton Division requested that information about persons setting fire to such reserves be given to the nearest police station.
