Sustainable Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Management Programme on the cards
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- An inspection tour headed by Environment Deputy Minister Anton Jayakody was held at the Minneriya, Kaudulla and Hurulu National Parks recently. The visit aimed to explore opportunities to boost tourist attractions, develop infrastructure and sanitation facilities, streamline services through digital technology, and diversify revenue streams for the Wildlife Conservation Department.
Focus was given to promptly commission a scientific Carrying Capacity study by a team of experts to minimise the impact on wildlife and the ecosystem caused by the high influx of nearly 400 to 600 safari jeeps entering Minneriya and Kaudulla parks daily.
