Sri Lanka, June 18 -- Former Private Secretary to ex-President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Sugeeshwara Bandara, has been arrested by the Central Crimes Investigation Bureau (CCIB), Police said.

According to police sources, the arrest was made in connection with allegations of large-scale financial misappropriation during his tenure at the Presidential Secretariat.

Investigations have revealed that Bandara is accused of unlawfully receiving salaries and allowances from two separate state institutions simultaneously while serving as Private Secretary to the President, resulting in alleged double remuneration from public funds.
