Strong winds to affect several areas as showers continue
Sri Lanka, July 21 -- The Department of Meteorology says several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (21).
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the Monaragala, Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m., while mainly dry weather is expected to prevail over the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, strong winds of 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-central and Central provinces, as well as in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.
