Sri Lanka, June 11 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning for strong winds and rough sea conditions in several sea areas around the island, urging naval and fishing communities to exercise extreme caution.

According to the advisory, the sea areas extending from Kankasanthurai to Kalpitiya via Mannar are expected to be very rough at times, with strong gusty winds reaching between 60 and 70 kmph. Fishermen and naval operators have been advised not to venture into these waters until further notice.

Meanwhile, sea areas off the coasts extending from Trincomalee to Kankasanthurai via Mullaittivu, and from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Hambantota, are also expected to experience rough conditions with wind speeds ...
