Sri Lankan juniors stumble in ITF J60 third round
SriLanka, Sept. 10 -- Sri Lanka suffered a difficult day as five local players were knocked out in the boys' and girls' third rounds of the ITF J60 Week One Tennis Tournament at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts in Colombo yesterday.
China's Vidu Yang defeated Nevan Kannangara 6-2, 6-3, while Phasin Sinchalong of Chinese Taipei beat Ashlin de Silva 6-1, 6-3.
India's Ranvir Singh overcame a strong fight from Revan Amarasinghe in a three-set battle. Singh won the opening set 6-1 before Amarasinghe fought back to take the second 6-4. The Indian then won the deciding match tie-break 10-6.
Poland's Jerzy Filip Urban also advanced with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sri Lanka's Jayin de Seram.
