Sri Lanka, May 25 -- Sri Lanka's inflation accelerated further in April 2026, with both the National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) and Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) recording notable increases on a year-on-year basis, according to latest data released by the Department of Census and Statistics.

The NCPI-based headline inflation rose to 4.7% in April 2026 from 2.4% in March, reflecting a sharp increase in consumer prices across the country. In comparison, headline inflation stood at negative 0.8% in April 2025, indicating a significant turnaround from the low inflation environment seen last year.
