Sri Lanka, Sept. 18 -- Sri Lanka's first commercial-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), aimed at strengthening renewable energy capacity and improving national grid stability, will be inaugurated in Anuradhapura today (18).Sri Lanka Tourism

The inauguration will be held this morning under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the participation of Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunathilaka.

As the first of 16 planned commercial-scale battery storage projects, the initiative will help maintain grid frequency and voltage while reducing reliance on costly diesel power generation during peak evening hours.
