Sri Lanka, Aug. 6 -- Sri Lanka must move beyond being a consumer of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and position itself as a selective producer if it is to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving global digital economy, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne said.

Addressing the launch of 'Sri Lanka AI Week 2026', Weeraratne said the country was now living in the "IQ era", where AI is reshaping governments, economies, industries, education and everyday life, making it imperative for Sri Lanka to embrace the technology strategically.
