Sports Ministry to spend more money on 'School Sports'
SriLanka, Sept. 22 -- The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has launched a project to distribute exercise equipment to schools under the 'School Cricket Development Programme'. The project aims to elevate the standard of school cricket and enhance students' physical fitness. The first phase of distributing these sets valued over Rs. 65 million to 500 schools across the island commenced yesterday at the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The exercise equipment were distributed to 48 schools within the Colombo District.
Initiated through 2024 budget allocations, this programme is being implemented jointly by the Presidential Secretariat, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Sports, and the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association....
