Sophisticated fraud scheme stealing bank deposits, SLCERT warns
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Scheme (SLCERT) has received complaints regarding a fraudulent scheme in which individuals impersonate officials of institutions such as the Central Bank and the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID), using forged letterheads of those institutions. The perpetrators initially contact victims through mobile phones and social media platforms, inquiring about the money held in their savings and fixed deposit accounts, SLCERT issuing a statement said.Maldives News
