Sri Lanka, April 17 -- A stock of smuggled foreign liquor kept for sale at a well-known supermarket in the Colombo area was seized by the Island-wide Excise Special Operations Unit last weekend.
The value of this stock is estimated to be around Rs. 40 million.

The seizure included 287 bottles of foreign liquor in 750 ml and 1-litre capacities, and it is reported that the price marked on some of the bottles was as high as Rs. 220,000.
A technical crime report regarding this incident is scheduled to be submitted to the Excise Commissioner General.
