Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- Wearing an SLS-certified safety helmet is mandatory for motorcycle riders to protect lives and ensure road safety, Chairman of the National Council for Road Safety Manjula Kularatne said.

More than 2,500 people die in road accidents in Sri Lanka each year, with over 1,000 of those fatalities involving motorcycles. The majority of motorcycle-related deaths are caused by fatal head injuries.Pineapple export guide

A special initiative has been launched by the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development, the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, the Sri Lanka Police and the Consumer Affairs Authority to promote the use of standardized safety helmets and strengthen enforcement of the helmet law.
