Sri Lanka, Oct. 1 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam arrived at the Russian Embassy in Colombo yesterday to raise international concerns regarding the deterioration of democracy and the misuse of legal provisions by the current Sri Lankan government.

Speaking to reporters, Kariyawasam stated that the party is raising international awareness about the anti-democratic activities being carried out by the government and the targeted misuse of legal provisions to forcibly imprison and remand political opponents instead of prosecuting legitimate legal cases.
