Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Sri Lanka is planning to deploy disaster relief teams to Nepal in the coming days to assist communities affected by the country's severe flooding, Defence Deputy Minister Major General (Retd) Aruna Jayasekara said. Speaking to the media in Anuradhapura, the Deputy Minister said the government was also taking preliminary steps to provide US$ 1 million in financial assistance to Nepal. "The situation in Nepal is extremely unfortunate, and the President has expressed his condolences. As a government, we are now taking preliminary steps to provide financial assistance of US$1 million," he said.
