SL's debt sustainability has increased - CB Governor
Sri Lanka, June 5 -- Central Bank Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe stated that the country's capacity to repay domestic and foreign debt had increased due to recent positive economic developments.
He noted that the national debt burden had decreased from 105 percent to 95 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as a result of sound public debt management.
Dr. Weerasinghe explained that the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) obtained from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would conclude next year, adding that it was too early to determine whether the Government would seek another credit facility from the organisation.
